HOW TO CRITIQUE WITH STARS
1 Star- Complete and utter failure in that given category. Very few works should be placed here. One literally has to make an effort to be that bad.
2 Stars: Serious flaws in the category that detract from the effort.
3 Stars: Acceptable work. Definitely some positive qualities, but certain things are lacking that would give it a higher rating.
4 Stars: Clearly artistic and above average.
5 Stars: Top end superior work. Few things should be given this rating unless they're clearly striking and well thought out or executed. Professional work all around.

[link]MY OWN THOUGHTS ON CRITIQUING
ALWAYS start with the positive. If you have nothing positive to say... don't say anything at all. There is always something positive. Find it and say it.
Be fair in the negative. NEVER say you don't like something without giving examples of why you don't like it.
Be fair in the positive. NEVER say you love something without giving examples of why you love something.
ALWAYS use tact.
