Didn't see any baby painteds this year. I'm sure there were... but none of the eggs laid in my yard emerged. We had an odd summer... way too wet, and then way too dry. Oh well.

Wow, wish we had a wet summer. We've had no rain at all here in SoCal.
I bet it's neat to see them all brand new, just hatched and coming from your garden. We don't get coolness like that here.

I used to have one when I was living in China, but here in the uk they are literally about 50x as expensive...sigh...

For an image like this a coffee mug (or anything circular for that matter) is a perfect idea. You should take another image of a finished product for us!

You are most certainly on the end of a dirty look in the third capture. A "don't do that to me again" expression. This is perfect for a mug. Nice capture. (I didn't say it was cute...)

I was thinking the very same thing about the dirty look. He'll probably find me next year and bite my toes. Of all the stuff I do... he may actually... ahem... fall into the 'cute' category. But only him. :) And maybe my Weinmeraner puppy. :) Oh, and maybe my little yellow ducky, too.

hehehe thats so adorable!

i used to do that to my baby painted turtles, hehe. even once they got bigger... and we'd let them run around the kitchen and such, they were fast!

my dad just released them though, my parents didnt want to take care of them anymore... :-(

Oh yeah smart people...it's illegal to release non-native species into a natural enviroment...even if it's a man made pond...

Well they were caught in the pond as babies. Then we kept them till they got bigger... and released them into the SAME pond. It was originally man made over 15 years ago but it's pretty large and nature has taken over. Very few baby turtles survive into adulthood so we figured we were doing them a bit of a favor.

And two of them are still there, I caught them again this summer (we wrote on the bottom of the shells with sharpies to ID them). The others could be, perhaps they were just stealthy.

I released mine, too. Takes a lot of attention and I figured he'd be much happier in the pond.

mine seemed pretty happy in their big tank and their feeding frenzies every morning... but they just started getting too big and we decided it was time for them to get a taste of the wild. we had caught them right after they hatched, hope they can figure out how to survive out there. i bet they'll be fine though.

I think that box turtles have a problem rolling back... painters have no problem at all.
